About Taiwan

Taiwan is a solitary island situated on the western edge of the Pacific Ocean. To the north lies Japan; to the south is the Philippines. Taiwan is located in the subtropical climate zone. The bright sun and the ocean breezes contribute to Taiwan's balmy humid weather.
Taiwan enjoys warm weather all year round. The annual average temperature is a comfortable 22 degrees Celsius with lowest temperatures ranging from 12 to 17 degrees Celsius (54-63 Fahrenheit). In May, the temperature is around 30 degrees Celsius (86 degrees Fahrenheit).
The official language of Taiwan is Mandarin Chinese, but many Taiwanese also speak Minnan (the Southern Min dialect, or Heluo).
